Welcome to my Home Page
I'm Giorgio Cortiana from Padova University. I'am working with the
Padova's group
at CDF.
We have worked on the Higgs associated production with
vector boson in the final 4jets state. We have
defined a mutijet trigger, based on Calorimetric requirements and b-tagging
that would be able to collect this type of crowled events. More datails
could be found in the
INFN-Padova's trigger page .
Right now my interest is focused on the search of the Z-> b b bar
decay. At the aim a working group was formed. For more details have a
look at the
Zbb working group web page

Recent Works and Talks
CDF-6036: A preliminary look at data collected by the Z_BB trigger and
estrapolations to 2 fb^-1:
A large-statistics Z peak reconstructed from the mass of b-tagged
dijet pairs would allow a straightforward determination of the energy
scale and resolution of b-quark jets and tests of improved b-jet
reconstruction algorithms. The question is whether 2 fb^-1 of data
collected by the Z_BB trigger, which uses SVT information at Level 2,
will be enough for a determination of the scale to better than 1%,
which is roughly what is needed to make a major impact on the top mass
systematic uncertainty. From our studies it appears that the Z_BB
trigger needs to be retuned in order to increase signal acceptance, if
its basic goals are to be fulfilled.

Using Neural network to identify single top in run 1 data
(cdf-5742) In this paper we describe a single top quark search in Run I data using Artificial Neural Networks. Using a sample of 64 W + 1,2,3 jets events from Run I, the fit to the Neural Network output yields a signal content of 22.9 +/- 7.6 events, roughly 5.4 times the expected value. By employing the Feldman-Cousins technique, we determine a 95% C.L. interval of [9.9, 45.7] single top events. other useful documentation: cdf-5741, determination of the a-priori limit for single top production cdf-5434, a root interface to jetnet cdf-5370, using neural networks to identify single top |

Limit on Bs0 Bs0bar Oscillation Frequency in ppbar Collision at
sqrt(s)=1.8 TeV
(cdf-5815) This analysis presents a preliminary limit on Bs0 oscillation frequency in p\bar{p} collisions at \sqrt{s}=1.8 TeV at CDF. The data sample used is the inclusive e and \mu trigger data of approximately 90 {pb}^{-1} collected during the 1993-1995 run. The Bs0 meson is reconstructed as Bs0 -> \nu \ell D_s, where D_s -> \phi \pi or K^{*0}K. The initial flavor of the Bs0 meson is determined from the decay products of the other b-hadron in the event where the opposite side Jet Charge Tagging and Soft Lepton Tagging methods are used. Combined with CDF previous results, a preliminary limit of 6.3 {ps}^{-1} is achieved. |

Run Ib direct photon cross section with
conversion
(cdf-5830) We present a new background subtraction method for photon physics at CDF using inner detector conversions. We use the new method to measure the inclusive photon cross-section at low $p_T$ with Run Ib inclusive electron data. Other documentation: cdf-5714, Run Ib inclusive electron trigger efficiency for conversions. |

Top Cross Section Measurement
(paper) We update the measurement of the top production cross section using the CDF detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. This measurement uses $t\bar{t}$ decays to the final states $e+\nu$+jets and $\mu+\nu$+jets. We search for $b$ quarks from $t$ decays via secondary-vertex identification or the identification of semileptonic decays of the $b$ and cascade $c$ quarks. The background to the $t\bar{t}$ production is determined primarily through a Monte Carlo simulation. However, we calibrate the simulation and evaluate its uncertainty using several independent data samples. For a top mass of 175 $GeV/c^2$, we measure $\sigma_{t\bar{t}}=5.1 \pm 1.5$ pb and $\sigma_{t\bar{t}}=9.2 \pm 4.3$ pb using the secondary vertex and the lepton tagging algorithms, respectively. Finally, we combine these results with those from other $t\bar{t}$ decay channels and obtain $\sigma_{t\bar{t}} = 6.5^{+1.7}_{-1.4}$ pb. |

Branching Ratio limit for Bs->mu+mu-phi 5276
(cdf-5276) We present the third version of the note describing our search for the rare decay Bs --> Mu+ Mu- Phi. Using ~90 pb^{-1} of data collected during Runs IA and IB, we find, after all requirements, two events in the Bs mass search region 5.319-5.419 GeV/c^2, with an expected background of 1. We have corrected the calculation of the systematic uncertainty, which in turn raises the measurement of the branching fraction. From this observation, we calculate the 90% C.L. upper limit on the branching fraction: Br(Bs --> Mu+ Mu- Phi) < 4.7 10^{-5} |
