A Farm is a batch of computers that are clustered together, but they work independently on whatever crop the head farmer (IO Server) gives them to work on. It is a very similar to the SetiAtHome style of computing, except that it under much tighter control.
A farm is not a Beowulf cluster, they are two different animals (so to speak). A Beowulf cluster has all of it's computers joined together in such a way that they all act like one large multiprocessor computer.
