KDE How-To - Adding To The Menu
Adding items to the KDE Menu is a little trickier
than adding items to your panel, but once you understand a little of what
is going on it isn't too hard. The first thing you should understand is
only root can add/edit the main menu. The average user can only edit a folder called 'Personal'.
- Open up the Menu Editor (See below) under KMenu - Utilities - Menu Editor
- Create a new menu item
- By Hand
- Right click on menu column, select 'New' (see below)
- Edit all of the properties (see below)
- Click on 'OK'
- Drag N Drop (see below)
- (Root Only) Drag N Drop menu item to main menu (see below)
- Save, Click on disk icon, or use menu under File - Save

3. Add to main menu - Drag N Drop
As a average user you will only be able to add menu items to the KMenu - Personal menu folder.
