Obtaining an Oracle Account

Note: This page will be replaced eventually with a cgi form that automatically generates the correct account request. Right now you have to send email to Diana Bonham (diana@fnal.gov) or Nelly Stanfield (nelly@fnal.gov), requesting that they give you an Oracle account.

When you make this request, you need to tell them which server you want an account on. As of this writing, the servers are on the following nodes:

Node Name Oracle SID Alias Intended Purpose
fncduh.fnal.gov d0db cdf_dev1 D0 developement
d0ora1.fnal.gov d0ofdev1 d0ofdev1 D0 development
d0ora2.fnal.gov d0ofprd1 d0ofprd1 D0 production
fncduh.fnal.gov cdfdb cdfdb CDF development
fndauk.fnal.gov dev2 cdf_dev2 Replication/Backup Testing
cdfora.fnal.gov cdfoff1 cdf_dev3 CDF Offline Development
b0dau30.fnal.gov ordb cdf_dev4 CDF Online Development

After you obtain the account, you use client software to connect to the server. The details of how to do this can be found here.
