I am a postdoctoral research associate in experimental high energy physics, working with Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) Collaboration at CERN, The European Organization for Nuclear Research in Geneva, Switzerland and the experimental high energy physics group at Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Califonia, Riverside, working under the supervision of Bob Clare and Steve Wimpenny. My current work is focused on commissioning and operation of the Cathode Strip Chamber (Endcap Muon) of the CMS detector, physics of the top quark, and search for Higgs boson(s). Within high-energy physics, I am also interested on the issue of precision electroweak measurements, search for new phenomena, cosmology-particle physics interface, and precision neutrino physics.
Outside high-energy physics, I involved in a voluntary work with fellow Indonesian students and scientists to establish ARSIP: Indonesian Mirror Servers for Scientific Data. We succeeded to establish mirrors of PDG Particle Data Group, SLAC SPIRES, and NASA/Harvard-Smithsonian Astrophysics Data System. I am also an active member of, and a moderator in, online forum and mailing lists for physicists and physics enthusiasts in Indonesia
In April 2008, I obtained my Ph.D. with dissertationMy first name is actually 'Suharyo' but as far as I can remember, I have always been called 'Haryo'. See this page for explanation. I am of ethnic Javanese and come from Java, an island in the country of Indonesia. It is the most populated island in the world. There aren't many people from Indonesia doing experimental high-energy physics. So far there have been only five people. Very small number to represent a country with a population of approximately 200 million. For about five years I was the only person from Indonesia at Fermilab. I am working hard to increase the popularity of experimental high energy physics among Indonesian undergraduate students.
