- Perform research and development of algorithms and processes to be used in Dark Energy Survey (DES) data management.
- Develop and support observing software for the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS).
- Support the SDSS data distribution infrastructure.
- Generated a prototype and collaborated in the creation of web services specifications for the International Lattice Data Grid, a set of services for management and transfer of lattice QCD data sets between archive sites.
- Operated the SDSS telescopes during commissioning and early production.

- Designed and implemented the observing software for the SDSS monitor telescope, including automating observing of survey standards.
- Studied the three dimensional structure of the Virgo cluster of galaxies using multiple distance estimation techniques.
