ND  Installation  &  Commisioning

Near Detector Rack Commissioning

The Near Detector Racks are FE ( Front End) RE (Read Out) and HV (High Voltage).  There are 8 Master 26 Minder and 2 HV Racks Their assembly is now taking place at the New Muon Lab.

I am responsible, together with D. Boehlein, for the two HV Racks. Details of the HV Rack components are found in the following report
Their assembly is complete and  the LeCroy 1440 HV system (both functionality of components and the HV program that allowed us to remotelly operate the HV) are succesfully tested at the 9 Plane integration test at  the NM Lab.

9 ND Integration test @  New Muon Lab

All Near Detector Planes and Racks reside at the New Muon Lab at Fermilab. In order to test all steps  of the commissioning and installation procedure, from the cabling of the planes to the final plane readout  me and S. Murgia are setting up the last 9 near detector planes at the New Muon Lab.

For more details on the goals and status of the test see my presentation on the Cambridge 2004 Collaboration meeting.

The test is now complete and some of the things we studied are described in my presentation on the Fermilab 2004 Collaboration meeting. In particular we can find some details on QIE Calibration and Response and  Single and Cosmic ray rates we observed at NM.

The explanation of the problems described above are the MINOS CRL (06-21-04 & 06-17-04)

I have started looking at REAL cosmic muons in the Near Detector and Panos Stamoulis has started studying " x-talk " effects :
